Review of The Tea Dragon Society

The Tea Dragon Society

Disclaimer: This review doesn’t contain any spoilers, and the opinions expressed are my own.

The Tea Dragon Society is a lovely, heartwarming comic that was written by Katie O’Neill. The story follows Greta, a blacksmith apprentice, who rescues a lost tea dragon named Jasmine. When she reunites Jasmine with its owner, Greta is introduced to the wonderful world of tea dragons. She learns a great deal about them and how to care for them while meeting caring and lovely people along the way.

This is a wonderful story for all ages. I read it with my five-year-old, who adored it. At only 60 pages, it can easily be read in one sitting. The illustrations are stunning, with vibrant colors and whimsical designs. In addition, the characters are relatable, especially after they share their struggles and their love for the tea dragons.

I particularly appreciated the inspiring and positive messages about acceptance and friendship. Greta’s friends are mixed regarding both their age and their skin color. The story also introduces disabled and LGBT characters. From the first page, I found this book quite charming. Now, I really want to have a tea dragon of my own.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
