The Honey-Don’t List, written by Christina Lauren, is another hit for me. Published by Gallery Books, this little gem will be released on March 20, 2020. The two authors behind the pen name have created another swooning romance that will steal your heart. After The Unhoneymooners and Twice in a Blue MoonThe Honey-Don’t List is my third book from them this year, and let me tell you one thing – once again, it does not disappoint.

Thank you Net Galley and Gallery Books for allowing me to read this book.

Synopsis

Carey Douglas has worked for home remodeling and design gurus Melissa and Rusty Tripp for nearly a decade. A country girl at heart, Carey started in their first store at sixteen, and—more than anyone would suspect—has helped them build an empire. With a new show and a book about to launch, the Tripps are on the verge of superstardom. There’s only one problem: America’s favorite couple can’t stand each other.

The Honey-Don't List by Christina Lauren

James McCann, MIT graduate and engineering genius, was originally hired as a structural engineer, but the job isn’t all he thought it’d be. The last straw? Both he and Carey must go on book tour with the Tripps and keep the wheels from falling off the proverbial bus.

Unfortunately, neither of them is in any position to quit. Carey needs health insurance, and James has been promised the role of a lifetime if he can just keep the couple on track for a few more weeks. While road-tripping with the Tripps up the West Coast, Carey and James vow to work together to keep their bosses’ secrets hidden, and their own jobs secure. But if they stop playing along—and start playing for keeps—they may have the chance to build something beautiful together…

From the “hilariously zany and heartfelt” (Booklist) Christina Lauren comes a romantic comedy that proves if it’s broke, you might as well fix it.

From the New York Times bestselling author behind the “joyful, warm, touching” (Jasmine Guillory, New York Times bestselling author) The Unhoneymooners comes a delightfully charming love story about what happens when two assistants tasked with keeping a rocky relationship from explosion start to feel sparks of their own.

Book Review

The Honey-Don't List by Christina Lauren - A Swooning Adult Romance

Melissa and Russell Tripps are celebrities, the sweethearts of a famous home renovation show. On TV, this couple is perfection personified– a united front and a fun and stable couple, and they are respected and idolized by all their fans. They are the ultimate couple. Unfortunately for Carey and James, who work closely with them, the Tripps’ TV persona is nothing like reality. The couple can no longer stand each other.

As they all embark on the Tripps’ last book tour and the promotion of their new TV show, Carey and James’s sole goal is to make sure that nothing goes south. Unfortunately, the tension in the air grows thicker each day, especially when one of the Tripps becomes a lot less careful in public. The situation becomes unbearable for both Carey and James, but none of them can afford to quit. Carey needs the money for health insurance, and James needs this job for different, yet valid, reasons. As they team up to make this trip as smooth as possible, obstacles arise, but so does their chemistry. The sparks ignite a fire in each of them, pushing them to reconsider their path and making them wonder if in the end, it would all be worth it.

The Honey-Don’t List is simply amazing. The format of the book is engaging – a mix between the story, an interview transcript, and social media tweets. The characters are loveable for the most part, maybe not so much for the Tripps. Carey and James come from different worlds, but somehow, they find a way to complement each other. They truly care about one another, and with every interaction, they fix what’s wrong in each other’s lives.

The romance is sweet and hot at the same time. The characters are flawed, down to earth, and funny, which makes them relatable. I highly recommend this story. For me, the book definitely deserves a five-star rating.
