ARC Review – The Girl The Sea Gave Back by Adrienne Young

Review The Girl The Sea Gave Back

The Girl the Sea Gave Back is a novel beautifully written by Adrienne Young. This epic young adult fantasy novel, published by Wednesday Books, is set to be released on September 3, 2019.

Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Let me start by saying that this is the first time that I’ve ever pestered a publisher so much to receive a book. And I’m not ashamed of it. I’ve been obsessed with this book since the moment I saw the cover reveal.

Sky in the Deep, the author’s first book, took me by surprise in the best way imaginable. This book offers so much: adventure, romance, battle, mystical belief, and a great storyline. Putting down this book was impossible, so when I found out about The Girl the Sea Gave Back, I simply had to read it.

This story is set in the same world as Sky in the Deep and takes place a decade later. I love how this book even offers glimpses into the lives of my favorite characters from Sky in the Deep

This review is spoiler free.

Something like Gravity By Amber Smith – MTMC Tour

Today I’m excited to participate in the bookstagram & creative blog tour for SOMETHING LIKE GRAVITY by Amber Smith. This is an LGBTQ+ YA Contemporary novel perfect for fans of Love, Simon out June 18th, 2019 from Simon & Schuster / McElderry Books!

Check below my creative stop and make sure to visit all the bookstagram & creative stops since each person is giving away a copy of Something Like Gravity to celebrate its release.

Synopsis

For fans of Love, Simon and Eleanor and Park, a romantic and sweet novel about a transgender boy who falls in love for the first time—and how first love changes us all—from New York Times bestselling author Amber Smith.

Chris and Maia aren’t off to a great start.

A near-fatal car accident first brings them together, and their next encounters don’t fare much better. Chris’s good intentions backfire. Maia’s temper gets the best of her.

But they’re neighbors, at least for the summer, and despite their best efforts, they just can’t seem to stay away from each other.

The path forward isn’t easy. Chris has come out as transgender, but he’s still processing a frightening assault he survived the year before. Maia is grieving the loss of her older sister and trying to find her place in the world without her.

Falling in love was the last thing on either of their minds.

But would it be so bad if it happened anyway?

something like gravity

I’m close to finishing this book, and this book is beautifully written. The characters are well developed, and the love story is one of a kind. This story will make you laugh and cry. You cannot NOT feel while reading. At times heartwarming, at times heartwrenching, you’ll be exposed to first love, grief, conflicts, and finding our one true self.

This book is making me think in ways I wouldn’t have normally done. I made me wonder and question our society. If you loved Simon versus The Homo Sapiens Agenda, give this book a try. You’ll love it!

About the Author: Amber Smith
