As you may know, January was a slow month for me as far as reading goes. I was sick for most of the month, but it did not stop me from buying some amazing books. So, this is my January 2019 Book Haul post. I’ve been reasonable this month in comparison with December simply because my goal this year is to bring my TBR down a bit, starting with the books that I already own.
JANUARY 2019 BOOK HAULÂ
Pre-Order:
The Wicked King by Holly Black (Hardcover)
I started this book, but I’m struggling to finish it because I’ve been so sick that I’ve been reading it on and off, which is a terrible way to read. I can’t seem to latch onto the story even though I’m the first to recognize how awesome the story is. I’ll get over it and finish it soon. (I hope)
Hardcover books from Book box Subscriptions:
Stain by A.G. Howard
I received this gorgeous book in my Unicorn Crate book box. This cover is gorgeous and I can’t wait to read it. I’ve heard great reviews on it so far.
Circle of Shadows by Evelyn Skie
This book is next on my reading list (as soon as I finished reading Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater and the Arc I just received from Net Galley. I try to read Arcs as soon as I get them.)
The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Choksi
This is another book I’ve heard great things about. The cover is gorgeous, and the story intriguing. Can’t wait!
Purchased:
Getting Schooled by Emma Chase (Audible)
I listen to that book and the narrators are awesome. I loved it. This is more of a 4 1/2 star rating for me. This book is about second chances and how love is not everything. Communication is so important. A wonderful and steamy read.
Repeat by Kylie Scott (Audible)
I acquired this audiobook because I really like Kylie Scott. She writes great YA and adult romance. I haven’t had the chance to get to this one yet, but I look forward to it.
We Shouldn’t by Vi Keeland (Kindle)
Vi Keeland is an auto-buy author for me. If you like steamy romance (NOT YA AT ALL), then she is the right author for you. Sure enough, this book was a five-star rating for me. The characters are hilarious, and the chemistry is off-the-charts.
Books received from Publishers/gifted from Author:
eArcs from NetGalley:
The Rule of Many by Ashley and Leslie Saunders
This book is the second installment in The Rule of One series. I really enjoy reading this, probably even more than the first book. For a spoiler-free arc review, click here.
Blood Heir by Amelie Wen Zhao
I started reading this book and I was really hooked, but 20% in, I heard that the author decided to cancel the publication. I do hope that the author will make the changes that she needs and will publish it because so far, it was a great book.
Publisher:
Dream Keeper by Amber Duell (Kindle)
I haven’t had the chance to finish this book yet. So far the story is interesting. More to come on this.
Author:
The Quest by Karina Kantas (Kindle)
The Author was really nice, and she gifted this book to me. Since it’s book 2, I need to get the first book first. More on this later.
I’m pleased to report that I only bought 7 books in January, which is under my limit (trying not to buy more than 8 books a month). I’m really trying to read all the books on my shelves before getting my hands on even more amazing books. It’s a real struggle for a book lover.
What about you? How many books did you end up buying in January? Have you read any of these?
Great book haul. I still need to get The Wicked King but I am finding it hard to get excited about it… And really need to get The Gilded Wolves!
The Wicked King is a good story. I started in the worst conditions for me. Hope you enjoy it better than I do. 😋
Great list! I always like a Vi Keeland book to break up some of the fantasy binges.
Yes! Exactly! I like to mix it up a little. It changes the pace.
