Book Review: Trouble Next Door by Stefanie london – Entangled Teen

Trouble Next Door, written by Stefanie London, was released November 13, 2017. I wasn’t planning on reading it, but it was offered for free at the end of an e-arc. I couldn’t pass the opportunity. This adorable, laugh-out-loud, and sexy romance was such a fun read. Find out more below.

Synopsis – Trouble Next Door by Stefanie London

McKenna Prescott is the queen of picking the wrong men. When her latest boyfriend dumps her, she decides to devote her time to “exploring herself” (read: drinking wine and ordering sex toys online) and starting her freelance makeup business. That is, until an embarrassing delivery mix-up puts her sexy, gruff neighbor in her path…

Beckett Walsh is married to his job…which is a deal-breaker for the woman he’s supposed to be marrying. Even worse, his would-be father-in-law has pulled support from Beckett’s startup and now Beckett stands to lose everything. But the gorgeous, crazy makeup artist from down the hall has an equally crazy but mutually beneficial idea: if he convinces his sister to hire McKenna for her high-society wedding, McKenna will teach him about what women want so he can get his fiancée back.

All he has to do is make sure he doesn’t fall for the wrong girl.

I found this story at the end of Finding Mr. Right Next Door, a book I definitely recommend. I was immediately drawn to the cover, especially because I love rom-coms. I tend to read a lot of fantasy and sometimes, I need a break from the heaviness that most of them bring on the table.

This story is more of a friend-to-lover romance. Beckett is a tech guru who is on the verge of releasing a successful app. When his fiancee broke up with him, her father removed the funds to his app, and the future he dreamt of vanishes in smoke. After the news, he receives a package and opens it.

McKenna is on a mission. Freshly out of a relationship, she decides to focus on her career and vows to keep all men at arm’s length. She orders vibrators and they get delivered at the wrong apartment. From an unfortunate situation, Beckett and McKenna strike a deal. He helps her with her career and she helps him get her fiancee back. It sounds like a win-win until it isn’t.

I never tire of this trope. McKenna is a fun character who wants to take control of her life. She is an artist and wants to succeed. Beckett is a tech guy with not always a great understanding of women, but together, they are fun, happy, alive. I love the banter, the attraction that bleeds on the page from the beginning, and the little attention.

I very much enjoyed this book. Beckett can be a bit stubborn at times, but both characters were entertaining in their own ways. I liked this story. I hope you give it a try.
