Last weekend, I volunteered at YallWest, a book festival for kids and teens held every year at the Santa Monica High School. This event is such a fantastic opportunity to meet Young Adult (YA) authors, attend various talks, and get your books signed.
As for teens, it’s also an opportunity to learn more about creative writing, publication, and enter contests. I wanted to share a highlight with you…
ANGIE THOMAS RAPS AND SHARES THREE HINTS ON HER THIRD BOOK.
YallWest hosts three main keynotes (AKA main talks among quite a few others) throughout the day, and I helped set up the stage for the first event. Angie Thomas and Nic Stone discussed their books, bullying at school, and pursuing your dreams.
It was a very inspirational talk.
I highly recommend attending YallWest once if that’s possible for you. You won’t regret it.
ANGIE THOMAS RAPS…
At the end of the morning event, Nic Stone asked Angie Thomas to rap. You may or may not know, but one of her characters does battle raps in her book, On the Come Up, and this is the rap song from her book.
I have to say that it surprised me (and many others), but that was one of my highlights, primarily because it was so unexpected.
ANGIE THOMAS GAVE US THREE HINTS ON HER THIRD BOOK
Ok! So, what I’m about to say is a spoiler, I would stop reading here if you don’t want to read the hints she gave regarding her third and upcoming book. I shared this in my stories last week, but here it is.

Ready?

Again, look away if you don’t want to know…
Hint #1 – The story will not be a prequel or sequel of her last book.
Hint #2 – The story will be set in the same neighborhood.
Hint #3 – The main character will be someone you know if you’ve read her books.
You’re welcome! LOL
YallWest was so much fun. I hope you all get to attend this festival at least once, especially if you enjoy YA novels. I wish you all a wonderful weekend.
If you are doing this meme, don’t hesitate to comment with your link. I’ll be more than happy to read it 🙂 I’m also doing another book challenge if you’re interested. Check it out! It’s called Pages Read 2019.
Happy Reading!
